Center fielder Corey Patterson had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Minute Maid Field
as the Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Houston Astros in 10 innings by the count
of 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Chicago (NL) came out on top in the 10th
inning. After an out was recorded, Jeromy Burnitz stroked a one-base hit.
John Thomas then called for a steal which was successful. Jose Macias struck
out, unable to help the rally. Matt Murton came up and he drew a walk.
Patterson stepped into the box and hit a single scoring the run. Chicago
(NL) managed 10 in their victory.

Right fielder Bobby Abreu lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 4 RBI and
Brett Myers was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at Citizen's Bank Park where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the
San Diego Padres 8 to 1.

Abreu provided much of the offense. He clubbed a three-run home run (his 4th
of the season) in the 6th inning and banged out a single knocking in a run in
the 8th inning. Philadelphia finished with 10 hits in the victory.

The winning pitcher was Myers(4-1) who allowed 1 run for the game. Woody
Williams(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 6 hits and 3 walks in 4
innings.

In an great finish the Cincinnati Reds won in dramatic fashion over the Los
Angeles(NL) Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3 at Great American Bpk.

Cincinnati won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs using 4
hits. Rich Aurilia led off and started the rally when he banged out a
single. Javier Valentin was the next batter, but he struck out. Wily Mo
Pena then laced a single. Ryan Freel dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out. Jason Larue stepped into the box and delivered a one-base hit to
load the bases. Sean Casey joined his teammates in the uprising and slapped
a base-hit giving Cincinnati the win much to the delight of the home town
crowd. Cincinnati finished with 11 hits while Los Angeles(NL) ended up with
8.

Todd Coffey(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Eric
Gagne(0-2) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 4 hits in 1
and 1/3 innings.

One run was the difference at Great American Bpk as the Cincinnati Reds
defeated the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers 3 to 2.

Cincinnati had the winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits.
After an out was recorded, Ken Griffey Jr keyed the rally when he lashed a
single. One out later, Wily Mo Pena came up and he bombed a two-run dinger
(his 1st of the season). Los Angeles(NL) made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Randy Keisler(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Keisler got relief
help from David Weathers who gained credit for his 1st save. The loss was
charged to Eric Gagne(0-1) in relief.

At Citizen's Bank Park, the Philadelphia fans witnessed a great pitcher's
duel. Vicente Padilla(2-3) finally bested his Florida opposite, Jason
Vargas(1-4), by the score of 3 to 1.

Philadelphia took the lead off Vargas in the first inning plating an isolated
run utilizing 2 base hits. Florida threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.

Padilla got help from Billy Wagner who was credited with his 6th save. Vargas

Park in a hard fought contest.

Philadelphia was unable to claim the lead after Florida went ahead in the top
of the 4th inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits. Philadelphia
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Josh Beckett(4-3) got the win allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Beckett got relief
help from Guillermo Mota who gained credit for his 1st save. Gavin
