Catcher Jesus Flores jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI at Nationals
Park as the Washington Nationals staged a comeback win over the Atlanta
Braves by the count of 9 to 8.

Washington had the game winning rally in the 9th inning as they scored 4 runs
on 3 base hits. The highlight belonged to Ryan Zimmerman who made the
home-town crowd a happy bunch when he smashed a two-run homer (his 3rd of the
season). Washington totaled 12 hits on the afternoon.

The win was credited to Saul Rivera(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Jeff Bennett(0-2) took the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 1 hit in
1/3 of an inning.

Rivera and Flores were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great
come from behind victory. As Lee Michaels noted, 'A win like this one can do
wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'

Ryan Dempster took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and third baseman Aramis
Ramirez had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Busch Stadium where the Chicago (NL)
Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8 to 0.

Dempster(3-2) was tremendous on the mound for Chicago (NL). He allowed just 3
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Dempster struckout 10 St. Louis batters
lowering his ERA to 2.09. The right-handed Dempster lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Ryan Ludwick doubled with two outs in the 6th inning. Chicago
(NL) had only 6 hits for the game.

Adam Wainwright(2-1) took the loss. Dempster didn't realize how many
strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 10 he was obviously
surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't
think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'

and he doubled. Ryan Theriot then lined a single. After an out was
recorded, Alfonso Soriano came to the plate and laced a base-knock. Soriano
took second on the throw. Derrek Lee followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Aramis Ramirez kept things alive and was walked intentionally to
load the bases. Kosuke Fukudome got his turn next, but he was a strikeout
victim. St. Louis could do no damage in the 9th.
