Randy Wolf came through with a solid 7 innings at PNC Park where the Houston
Astros beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 5 to 2.

Houston came up with 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning with the help of 3
hits. That early run support was enough for Wolf(2-2) and Houston.
Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Paul Maholm(2-5) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 9 hits and 1 walk in 6

Third baseman Chris Gomez blasted a homerun at PNC Park as the Pittsburgh
Pirates beat the Houston Astros in 17 innings 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. Pittsburgh came out the victor in the
17th inning. Steve Pearce doubled. Gomez got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes. Nyjer Morgan then lined a base-hit
resulting in an exciting win for Pittsburgh and a wild post-game celebration
by the home town fans. Pittsburgh bats were hot in the 2nd inning with 2
runs on 3 hits. Pittsburgh out-hit Houston for the game, 20 hits to 8.

Tom Gorzelanny went the distance and Nyjer Morgan hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI
as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Houston Astros by the score of 11 to 2
at Minute Maid Park.

Pittsburgh wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning plating an
isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Nate McLouth ripped a base-knock, and an
error was also committed. Freddy Sanchez stepped up next and he hit a
sacrifice fly. Ryan Doumit then laced a one-base hit. Adam Laroche was up
next and he grounded into a double play. Pittsburgh rapped out 16 hits for
the afternoon.

The win went to Gorzelanny(3-1) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Shawn
Chacon(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 2
walks in 3 innings.

Adam Laroche hit a homerun and had 4 RBI at Great American Bpk as the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds 17 to 9.

Laroche enjoyed a big day at the plate. He doubled which scored a run in the
1st inning, doubled plating a run in the 3rd inning and bombed a two-run
dinger (his 7th of the season) in the 7th inning. Pittsburgh bats were hot
in the 5th inning with 5 runs on 4 hits. The Pittsburgh offense was great,
scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

Ross Ohlendorf(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings. Johnny
Cueto(3-2) suffered the loss. He allowed 10 hits and 5 walks in 4 and 2/3
innings.

Laroche said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'

The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 4 at PNC Park in
a hard fought contest.

Pittsburgh came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. Freddy Sanchez led off the inning for Pittsburgh when
he drew a walk. Brad Lidge then let loose a wild pitch. Adam Laroche then
bombed a two-run dinger (his 6th of the season). Jason Bay stepped in and he
lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 4th of the season). Steve Pearce got his
turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Chris Gomez contributed to the
rally and delivered a single. Ronny Paulino next to the plate and he lined a
single. Luis Rivas then drew a walk to load the bases. Jose Bautista came
up and he grounded into a double play. The game was a scoreless duel until
the 6th inning.

John Grabow(2-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 1 inning. Grabow was helped
out by Matt Capps who recorded his 6th save. Lidge(0-1) was the losing
pitcher in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 1 walk without retiring a batter.
