WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Boston turns a triple play!

In a great finish the Los Angeles(AL) Angels came back in the top of the ninth
and held on to win over the Boston Redsox by a score of 5 to 4 at Fenway
Park.

Los Angeles(AL) erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2
runs using 3 hits. Gary Matthews Jr led off and started the rally when he
laced a single. Garret Anderson stepped up next and he doubled. Chone
Figgins dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Jonathan Papelbon
then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. Erick Aybar stepped into
the box and slapped a single. Vladimir Guerrero kept things alive and
grounded into a double play. Los Angeles(AL) finished with 12 hits in the
victory.

The victory went to Jose Arredondo(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Francisco Rodriguez gained credit for his 1st save. Papelbon(0-1)
was the loser in relief. He pitched 2 innings giving up 3 hits and no
walks.

John DePanicis was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'

giving him his 6th save on the season.

Matt Garza(4-2) was charged with the loss. Lee was asked about his big

numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands,
everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be
