David Wright had 3 base hits and Nelson Figueroa dominated striking out 12
Pittsburgh batters at Citi Field as the New York (NL) Mets staged a comeback
win over the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 3 to 2.

New York (NL) scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with
2 runs using 3 hits. Wright led off and keyed the rally when he doubled.
After an out was recorded, Carlos Delgado stepped in and he lashed a single.
Reyes took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Brian Schneider
followed and he banged out a single. The teams had been locked in a
scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Elmer Dessens(3-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Matt
Capps(1-3) was hit with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs in 1/3 of an
inning and saw his ERA jump from 4.09 to 5.56.

Dessens and Wright were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great
come from behind victory. As Craig Lombardi noted, 'A win like this one can
do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
