Roy Halladay delivered 8 solid innings as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated
the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings by the score of 1 to 0 at Citizen's
Bank Park.

The score was knotted at zero after nine innings. Finally, Philadelphia
prevailed in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Placido Polanco
smashed a solo-shot out of the park making Philadelphia the victor and
beginning a joyous home town celebration. Both teams finished the game with
4 hits.

The win went to Brad Lidge(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Kyle
McClellan(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He allowed 1 hit and no walks in
1/3 of an inning.

Shortstop Hanley Ramirez lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI as
the Florida Marlins bested the Philadelphia Phillies in 11 innings 7 to 5 at
Sun Life Stadium.

The score was tied at 5 after nine. Florida won the hard fought contest in
the 11th inning. After two were out Donnie Murphy started the attack as he
drew a walk. Ramirez next to the plate and he cracked a two-run shot
resulting in an exciting win for Florida and a raucous post-game celebration
by the home town fans. Florida finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Anibal Sanchez(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Jamie
Moyer(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.

Second baseman Chase Utley had 2 base hits as the Philadelphia Phillies bested
the Florida Marlins 4 to 2 at Citizen's Bank Park.

Philadelphia erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning plating 2
runs on 2 hits. Wilson Valdez kicked off the action when he drew a walk.
Utley followed next and he lashed a single. Utley took off for second and
slid in with a stolen base. Ryan Howard stepped in and he hit a deep fly.
Jose Veras then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch. Ben Francisco
joined his teammates in the uprising and ripped a one-base hit. Philadelphia
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. After another
out, Placido Polanco came to bat and drew a walk. Philadelphia had just 6
hits for the night.

J.C. Romero(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Brad

one-run game at AT&T Park. The final score was the St. Louis Cardinals 3,
the San Francisco Giants 2.

St. Louis jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated
run utilizing 2 base hits. Albert Pujols delivered a one-base hit. Two outs
later Tim Lincecum came to bat and let loose a wild pitch. David Freese then
laced a single. San Francisco had a chance in the 9th but they came up
short.

Jaime Garcia(1-0) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Garcia got
relief help from Trever Miller who gained credit for his 1st save.
Lincecum(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by St. Louis,
allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.

Lee Michaels was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'

Hanley Ramirez had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Sun Life Stadium where the Florida
Marlins beat the New York (NL) Mets by the score of 11 to 9.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Ramirez. He doubled plating a run in the 1st inning, lost the
ball over the fence for three runs in the 2nd inning, laced a base-knock in
the 4th inning and slapped a one-base hit in the 6th inning. Florida had 17
hits for the night while New York (NL) had 10.

The win was credited to Brian Sanches(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.

Ross Ohlendorf(5-2) struggled at times, but was good enough to get the
victory. He gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Ohlendorf got
help from Evan Meek who pitched great and earned his 5th save.

Stephen Strasburg(0-1) took the loss. Despite losing, he struckout 8
Pittsburgh batters in 5 innings. 'I struggled a bit out there today,'
Ohlendorf said, 'but I toughed it out and we got the win.'
