Danny Valencia touched them all and had 2 RBI at Target Field as the Minnesota
Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 8 to 6.

Nick Blackburn(2-0) labored throughout the game but hung around to record a
victory. He gave up 5 runs in 6 innings. Blackburn was helped out by Matt
Capps who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 1st save.

Bruce Chen(1-5) ended up with the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 10 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Zack Greinke had a complete game at Target Field where the Kansas City Royals
beat the Minnesota Twins 9 to 2.

Kansas City scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 2nd inning when they came
up with 3 base hits. Alex Gordon led off and keyed the rally when he
doubled. Mitch Maier was next and he drew a walk. One out later, Mike
Aviles dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Gregor Blanco came
up and he doubled. Jason Kendall came up to bat and drew a walk. David
Dejesus kept the inning going and slapped a one-base hit. Billy Butler
stepped up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Wilson Betemit got his
turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. That was all Greinke(4-4) needed.
Kansas City managed 15 hits in their victory.

The losing pitcher was Scott Baker(3-4). He got hit hard, allowing 6 hits and
4 walks in 2 innings.

Third baseman Jose Lopez ripped a bases loaded blast and Felix Hernandez
pitched 9 strong innings at McAfee Coliseum as the Seattle Mariners, running
on all cylinders, ripped the Oakland A's by a large 11 to 0 margin.

Lopez provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 2nd inning, doubled
resulting in a run in the 3rd inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam
homerun in the 6th inning. Seattle banged out 11 hits on the afternoon.

Hernandez(5-3) was credited with the shutout. Ben Sheets(2-5) absorbed the
loss. He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Lopez said. 'I'm
glad I decided to play!'

Russell Branyan hit one over the fence as the Seattle Mariners outscored the

Seattle jumped on top of Oakland in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they
scored 2 runs on 3 hits. Oakland threatened in the 9th but Seattle was able
to put down the rally.

The victory went to Jason Vargas(4-1) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Vargas got relief help from David Aardsma who gained credit for his 8th
save. Trevor Cahill(2-4) was the losing pitcher. His ERA ballooned from
2.85 to 3.38 as he allowed 5 runs in 6 innings.

Right fielder Shin-Soo Choo had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the Cleveland Indians
outscored the Kansas City Royals 14 to 8.

Choo had a big day at the plate. He laced a one-base hit in the 1st inning,
doubled scoring two baserunners in the 3rd inning, blasted a solo shot in the
7th inning and doubled with all three runners coming home in the 9th inning.
Cleveland provided plenty of action in the 9th inning with 5 runs on 4 hits.
The Cleveland offense man-handled the Kansas City pitching staff as they
scored in 7 of the 9 innings.

The victory went to Jensen Lewis(3-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. The losing pitcher was Brian Bannister(1-5). He got hammered, allowing

Alex Gordon ripped 2 homeruns and Jesse Chavez was great in relief as the
Kansas City Royals topped the slumping Cleveland Indians by a score of 12 to
5 at Progressive Field.

Gordon had a big day with his bat. He clubbed a two-run home run in the 2nd
inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 9th inning.
Chavez was perfect in the ninth giving him his 1st save on the season.

The victory was credited to Robinson Tejeda(3-0) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing 1 run. Aaron Laffey(1-2) took the loss in relief. His ERA ballooned
from 2.65 to 3.71 as he allowed 2 runs without retiring a batter.

First baseman Michael Cuddyer hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Minnesota

Minnesota drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 3 runners on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for
Francisco Liriano(5-2) and Minnesota. That was all the run support Liriano

Joe Mauer had 2 base hits at Target Field where the Minnesota Twins beat the

In the 7th inning Minnesota scored 2 runs. Jason Repko led off and started
the attack as he drew a walk. Alexi Casilla was next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Nick Punto then tripled. Felix Hernandez then threw a wild
pitch. Seattle made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.

allowing no runs. Brian Fuentes recorded the save, his 5th. The loss was

Jason Vargas went 9 solid innings at SAFECO Field as the Seattle Mariners beat
the Oakland A's 7 to 1.

Oakland was unable to climb back into it after Seattle went ahead for good in
the bottom of the 6th inning plating an isolated run on 2 hits. Seattle
rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Vargas(3-1) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Dallas Braden(1-4) took the loss. 'He was moving it around and spotting it
very well.' Lee Michaels said. Vargas pitched a great game. He deserves all
the credit.'

The Seattle ballclub's record now stands at 12-14. Kansas City can't seem
