Right fielder Michael Cuddyer left the yard and had 4 RBI as the Colorado
Rockies smashed the overmatched Arizona team, 17 to 4.

Cuddyer was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 2nd inning, delivered a single in the 4th inning and
hit a one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 7th inning. Colorado bats
were very productive in the 1st inning which saw them score 5 runs on 4 hits
and the 7th inning with 5 runs on 4 hits. Colorado had 18 hits overall,
while Arizona had 9.

The winning pitcher was Jorge De La Rosa(3-4) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Wade Miley(4-4) was the losing pitcher. While he was the losing
pitcher, he still struck out 4 batters in 1 and 2/3 innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the ice-cold Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 3 at
Citizens Bank Park in a hard fought contest.

Philadelphia found themselves trailing quickly as the Pittsburgh bats came
through in the first inning scoring one runner on 2 base hits. Mark Melancon

Second baseman Derek Dietrich rocketed 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Citizens
Bank Park as the Miami Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6 to
4.

Dietrich was a source of great heartache for the Philadelphia faithful all
day. He just kept pounding out hits! He cracked a two-run shot in the 2nd
inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 4th inning and lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning. Philadelphia tried unsuccessfully
to come back in the 9th.

The winning pitcher was Chad Qualls(2-1) who allowed no runs in 3 innings.
Steve Cishek gained credit for his 5th save. Cliff Lee(3-2) was tagged with
the loss. He served up 4 gopher balls in 7 innings.

'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Dietrich said.
'We played well together as a team.'
