Boston finished with 16 hits in the victory. Lester(2-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Scott Diamond(0-2) took the loss. 'He came out with good stuff,' Andy Virostek said about Lester. 'He threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'

Boston ended up with 13 hits for the game while Minnesota had 7. Buchholz was helped out by Craig Breslow who recorded his 2nd save. Mike Pelfrey(1-1) suffered the loss. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 6 innings of work. 'I had my good stuff today.' Buchholz said. 'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going to strike out a bunch of hitters.'
