Yu Darvish mowed down 15 Baltimore batters as the Texas Rangers topped the
Baltimore Orioles by a score of 7 to 1 at Rangers Ballpark.

Darvish(3-0) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Baltimore batters. He allowed just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering
his ERA to 1.62. Texas had 13 hits for the afternoon.

Jake Arrieta(1-1) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 5
innings. Craig Lombardi was obviously impressed with the pitching of
Darvish, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there this afternoon. We
just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for him. I just
hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'

Jason Hammel whiffed 12 batters as the Baltimore Orioles topped the Houston
Astros by a score of 3 to 1 at Camden Yards.

Hammel(2-1) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings seeing his ERA drop from 5.06 to 3.57. Both teams finished the game
with 6 hits.

Hammel got relief help from Jim Johnson who gained credit for his 1st save.
Lucas Harrell(1-2) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 4 hits and 3
walks in 5 innings.

When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Hammel offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon - of
course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
