Hideki Matsui left the yard and had 2 RBI and Randy Johnson reeled off a total
of 11 strikeouts at Yankee Stadium where the New York (AL) Yankees beat the
Minnesota Twins 8 to 4.

Matsui provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 4th inning, tripled in
the 5th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 6th of the season) in
the 7th inning. New York (AL) had 12 hits for the afternoon.

Johnson(4-1) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. The losing pitcher
was Johan Santana(2-3). He allowed 4 homeruns in 8 innings of work.

John Thomas was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you
see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling
the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'
