Manny Ramirez slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Bronson Arroyo allowed Andy
Virostek to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Boston Redsox
topped the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 8 to 2 at Fenway Park.

It was a good day for Boston thanks to Ramirez. He smashed a bases-empty
'big-fly' in the 1st inning and delivered a solo blast (his 5th of the
season) in the 4th inning. Boston banged out 7 hits on the night.

The victory went to Arroyo(1-1) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Rodrigo
Lopez(1-1) was given the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 5
runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

34,990 fans were treated to a fine game at Fenway Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Boston Redsox won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Boston came out on top
in the 12th inning. Jason Varitek lashed a single. Tony Graffanino was next
and he drew a walk. Tim Wakefield then stroked a base-hit to load the bases.
Edgar Renteria came up and he ripped a base-knock making Boston victorious
to the delight of the the home town crowd. Boston out-hit Kansas City for
the game, 12 hits to 9.

The winning pitcher was Jonathan Papelbon(3-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and
2/3 innings. Mike Macdougal(0-1) was the loser in relief. He gave up 3 runs
in 2 innings of work.

Trot Nixon added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of the bat
as the Boston Redsox beat the Oakland A's by a score of 8 to 0.

Oakland was unable to claim the lead after Boston went ahead in the 5th inning
plating an isolated run. Overall Boston out-hit Oakland 10 to 4.

Tim Wakefield(1-0) allowed no runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Wakefield got help from Mike Myers who was credited with his 1st
save. Joe Blanton(1-1) absorbed the loss.

Eric Chavez lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI as the Oakland A's
outscored the Boston Redsox 6 to 3.

Boston was unable to recover after Oakland went ahead in the 2nd inning with 2
runs. Scott Hatteberg led off and started the attack as he reached on an
error. After an out was recorded, Bobby Kielty stepped in and he doubled
knocking in a run. Bronson Arroyo then let loose a wild pitch. Nick Swisher
was up next and he would ground out scoring the final run of the inning.
Boston was out-hit by Oakland, 13 hits to 8.

Dan Haren(1-1) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Justin
Duchscherer earned the save, his 1st. Arroyo(0-1) took the loss. He pitched
7 and 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits and no walks.

In a game for the baseball purist, Barry Zito(1-0) and Joel Pineiro(1-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Oakland A's finally emerged victorious
over Seattle Mariners, 2 to 1.

Oakland had 2 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning with the help of 3 hits.
The big moment was provided by Bobby Crosby who came through for the home
fans when he delivered a base-hit bringing in two baserunners. Oakland had
just 6 hits for the night.

At Jacobs Field, the Cleveland fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. C.C.
Sabathia(2-0) finally bested his Minnesota opposite, Carlos Silva(0-1), by
the score of 3 to 0.

Sabathia delivered a fine performance for Cleveland. He was reached for 3 hits
and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.91 to 2.40. Both
teams ended up with 4 hits on the afternoon.

Sabathia got relief help from David Riske who gained credit for his 2nd save.
The losing pitcher was Silva. He gave up just 2 runs and 3 hits in 7
innings.

Second baseman Ron Belliard left the yard and had 3 RBI at Metrodome as the
Cleveland Indians belted the Minnesota Twins by the count of 12 to

Belliard enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He stroked a one-base hit bringing
in a run in the 1st inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of
the season) in the 3rd inning and laced a base-hit in the 7th inning.

Travis Hafner hit 2 doubles at Metrodome as the Cleveland Indians beat the
Minnesota Twins by the count of 3 to 2.

Cleveland had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3
base hits. Coco Crisp opened up the inning nicely when he doubled. After an
out was recorded, Hafner came up and he doubled resulting in a run. Jhonny
Peralta then banged out a single scoring the final run of the inning. The
Minnesota offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

David Riske(1-0) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Bob
Howry gained credit for his 1st save. Matt Guerrier(0-1) suffered the loss
in relief.

First baseman Richie Sexson had 3 base hits as the Seattle Mariners won at
SAFECO Field in dramatic fashion over the Kansas City Royals, the final
score, 5 to 4.

The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. Raul Ibanez lined a
one-base hit. Sexson next to the plate and he slapped a single. Mike Morse
struck out, unable to help the rally. Adrian Beltre stepped in and he
slapped a base-hit giving Seattle the win much to the delight of the home
town crowd. Overall Seattle out-hit Kansas City 15 to 10.

Eddie Guardado(1-0) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Jeremy
Affeldt(0-1) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up
2 hits and no walks.

Ryan Ludwick ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Jacobs Field as the Cleveland
Indians beat the Baltimore Orioles by the count of 5 to 2.

Ludwick had a big day at the plate. He clubbed a three-run home run in the
