Aubrey Huff blasted a grand slam as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New
York (AL) Yankees by the score of 13 to 8 at Camden Yards.

It was a good day for Baltimore thanks to Huff. He hit a single which scored
a run in the 1st inning and cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his
8th of the season) in the 2nd inning. New York (AL) was not lacking for run
support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they
seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

Dennis Sarfate(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Sarfate got
relief help from George Sherrill who gained credit for his 5th save. Sidney
Ponson(1-1) was given the loss. He was unable to control the Baltimore
offense and allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.

The win by Baltimore was very good news as they had been 2-8 of late. Now
their seasonal record improves to 6-10. With the loss, New York (AL) has a
record of 6-4 lately, 6-5 overall.

Yankees topped the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 3 to 2 at Yankee

Mussina(1-2) needed. New York (AL) won despite being out-hit by Baltimore 11
hits to 7.

Mariano Rivera recorded his 3rd save. Brian Burres(0-3) was charged with the
loss. His ERA increased from 3.27 to 5.73 as he allowed 3 runs without

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Mussina said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'

Rich Harden mowed down 16 Tampa Bay batters at Tropicana Field as the Oakland
A's beat the Tampa Bay club 1 to 0.

The game was decided in the 9th inning. After two outs Bobby Crosby doubled.
Emil Brown stepped into the batter's box and he laced a base-hit. Oakland
had 8 hits for the afternoon while Tampa Bay had 4.

Harden(2-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Harden was
helped out by Huston Street who recorded his 3rd save. Matt Garza(3-1) was
the losing pitcher.

Harden didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had
16 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent
total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good,
isn't it?'
