Tampa Bay scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. After two were out Luke Scott lashed a single. Fuld stole second with some aggressive base running. Wil Myers then stroked a one-base hit making Tampa Bay victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Tampa Bay had only 6 hits for the game. The victory went to Cesar Ramos(1-0) who went 1/3 of an inning, allowing no runs. Jim Johnson(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and no walks in 2/3 of an inning.
