In a close game it was the San Francisco Giants 6, the Houston Astros 4 at
Minute Maid Park.

San Francisco won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2
runs. After two outs Nate Schierholtz keyed the rally when he drew a walk.
Aaron Rowand stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a base-hit. Travis
Ishikawa then drew a walk to load the bases. Edgar Renteria was up next and
he drew a walk. Fred Lewis came to the plate and drew a walk. Both teams
finished the game with 7 hits.

Brandon Medders(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and
allowing no runs. Medders got help from Brian Wilson who was credited with
his 1st save. Jeff Fulchino(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.

Arizona was unable to recover after San Francisco went ahead in the top of the
6th inning scoring one runner on 2 hits. San Francisco banged out 9 hits on
the afternoon.

Cain(1-0) was credited with the shutout. Doug Davis(0-1) ended up with the
loss. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run
in the game.

Dan Haren reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and Mark Reynolds smashed 2
homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Arizona club defeated the San Francisco Giants
by a score of 3 to 1 at Chase Field.

Reynolds had a good day at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st
inning and blasted a solo shot in the 8th inning. Arizona totaled 10 hits on
the afternoon.

The win went to Haren(1-0) who allowed 1 run in the game. Tim Lincecum(0-1)
was given the loss. He allowed 2 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.

Haren was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there.
The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory
and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'
