best stuff,' Chris Couch said after the game. 'Stauffer did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to

In a startling finish the Colorado Rockies staged a comeback then held on to
win over the Arizona team by a score of 4 to 3 at Chase Field.

Colorado had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Seth Smith initiated the scoring
spurt when he tripled. Chris Iannetta got his turn next, but he was a
strikeout victim. Jason Giambi then bombed a two-run dinger. Colorado and
Arizona each finished the afternoon with 7 hits.

Matt Belisle(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Belisle got help from Huston Street who earned his 4th save. J.J.
Putz(1-2) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and
surrendered 1 hit and no walks.

George Nasser was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
