One run was the difference at Citizens Bank Park as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the San Francisco Giants 2 to 1.

Philadelphia came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning with the help
of 3 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Jimmy Rollins who elicited a
roar from the hometown fans when he doubled which was good for two runs.
Philadelphia banged out 11 hits on the night.

Cole Hamels(1-0) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Ryan Madson earned
his 2nd save. The losing pitcher was Ramon Ramirez(0-1) in relief.

Cliff Lee had an impressive outing as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the
San Francisco Giants 1 to 0 at AT&T Park.

Philadelphia jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating one
baserunner on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Lee(1-0)
and Philadelphia. That was all the run support Lee required. San Francisco
tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Ryan Madson was credited with his 1st save. Tim Lincecum(0-1) was tagged with
the loss. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits and 3 walks.

Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 6 to 4 at Dodger
Stadium.

Kershaw(1-0) gave Los Angeles(NL) a solid outing. He went 7 and 1/3 innings
and surrended up 6 hits and 1 walk. Cincinnati was out-hit by Los
Angeles(NL), 12 hits to 7.

Javy Guerra earned the save, his 1st. Mike Leake(0-1) was charged with the
loss. Los Angeles(NL) knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2
innings.

Kershaw was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the
victory and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts anytime!'

American Bpk.

Cincinnati never recovered after Milwaukee took the lead in the top of the 2nd
inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by Shaun Marcum who quieted the home crowd when he tripled plating two runs.
Milwaukee finished with 12 hits while Cincinnati ended up with 6.

John Axford(1-2) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Axford was
helped out by Tim Dillard who recorded his 1st save. Edinson Volquez(0-2)
ended up with the loss. He allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.
