Adam Laroche had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Edwin Jackson dominated striking out 11
Arizona batters as the Washington Nationals defeated the struggling Arizona
ballclub 13 to 5 at Nationals Park.

Laroche helped send the fans home happy. He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st
inning, doubled which scored a run in the 2nd inning, doubled which plated a
run in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Washington managed 18
hits in their victory.

Jackson(1-2) lasted until the end allowing 5 runs for the win. Ian
Kennedy(3-3) was charged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits
and 2 walks in 3 innings.

When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Jackson offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon - of
course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'

Clayton Kershaw didn't allow a hit until the 7th inning at AT&T Park where the
Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 1 to 0.

Kershaw(5-3) was simply too much for the San Francisco batters. He
surrendered only 2 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Kershaw recorded 12
strikeouts improving his ERA from 2.66 to 2.33. The left-handed Kershaw had
his no-hit bid broken up by Gregor Blanco who singled with nobody out in the
7th inning. San Francisco threatened in the 9th but Los Angeles(NL) was able
to put down the rally.

Madison Bumgarner(2-3) suffered the loss. He pitched 8 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered just 6 hits and no walks. Kershaw was pleased with his
performance. He noted, 'I had good command of all my pitches. Just as
important, my location was right on.'
