The Baltimore Orioles toppled the Kansas City Royals by a 7 to 3 score at
Camden Yards.
Kansas City was unable to claim the lead after Baltimore went ahead in the
bottom of the 2nd inning when they tallied 3 runs on 2 hits. The key at-bat
was by Robert Andino who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he
doubled clearing the bases. Kansas City had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.
The winning pitcher was Jeremy Guthrie(3-1) who allowed no runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Troy Patton recorded the save, his 2nd. Bruce Chen(2-1) absorbed
the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 and 1/3
innings.
'This was a tough loss,' said Lee Michaels, 'the kind that sticks with you for
awhile.'

Jake Arrieta took a no-hitter into the 8th inning as the Baltimore Orioles
defeated the Houston Astros 3 to 0 at Camden Yards.
Arrieta(1-2) was simply too much for the Houston batters. He surrendered only
3 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Arrieta recorded 12 strikeouts. The
right-handed Arrieta lost his no-hit bid when Carlos Lee singled with nobody
out in the 8th inning. Baltimore banged out 7 hits on the afternoon.
Aneury Rodriguez(0-1) was the losing pitcher. Brad Mills was upset after the
game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?',
he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's
printed in the rule book.'
