The Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers nipped the Boston Redsox in 10 innings 4 to 3 at
Dodger Stadium in a hard fought contest.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Los Angeles(NL) was
victorious in the 10th inning. Jamey Carroll banged out a single. Aaron
Miles followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Casey Blake then
laced a base-knock giving Los Angeles(NL) the win as 52,287 happy fans
joyfully celebrated. Both teams finished the game with 7 hits.

Scott Elbert(1-1) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Jonathan Papelbon(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run
and 3 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.

Boston erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring
2 runs on 3 base hits. After two were out Josh Reddick opened up the rally
as he laced a one-base hit. Ryan Lavarnway next to the plate and he doubled.
Pedroia then ripped a base-knock. Boston banged out 8 hits on the night.

Alfredo Aceves(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing

Clayton Kershaw delivered 9 solid innings and Juan Rivera had 2 base hits and

Los Angeles(NL) brought 2 runs across the plate in the 7th inning when they
came up with 3 base hits. The highlight belonged to Rivera who helped quiet
the crowd when he laced a one-base hit plating two runs. Los Angeles(NL) had
only 6 hits for the game.

Kershaw(1-0) went the distance for the shutout. Josh Beckett(0-1) ended up
with the loss. He pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks.

When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Beckett was lavish in
his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a
long night. Kershaw brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and
was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches
the entire game!

Angeles(NL) tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  
 
Jonathan Papelbon got the save, his 1st.  Ted Lilly(0-1) was the losing
pitcher.  'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' John DePanicis
said.  'It's bad enough when the other team beats you, but when you start
beating yourselves, that's really bad.'

to 3.
 
Cleveland tallied 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they came up
with 5 base hits.  The highlight belonged to Lou Marson who brought a roar
from the partisan Progressive Field fans when he lofted a three-run bomb.
Cleveland totaled 12 hits on the night.
