The Florida Marlins enjoyed a blow-out, pounding the Atlanta Braves pitchers
for 11 while Mark Hendrickson(1-2)with relief help surrendered 3 runs to
Atlanta.

Cody Ross had a big day at the plate. He doubled in the 2nd inning, popped a
two-run clout over the fence (his 9th of the season) in the 3rd inning and
doubled bringing in a run in the 4th inning. Overall Florida out-hit Atlanta
15 to 8.

Jorge Campillo(3-4) ended up with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9
hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.

Third baseman Chipper Jones smashed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Florida
Marlins were badly beaten by the Atlanta Braves, 10 to 0.

Jones enjoyed a big day at the plate. He delivered a base-hit in the 1st
inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, smacked a
three-run homer (his 11th of the season) in the 5th inning and stroked a
single resulting in a run in the 9th inning. For the game Atlanta out-hit
Florida 12 to 4.

Jair Jurrjens(6-2) went 8 innings allowing no runs for the win. Scott
Olsen(3-2) absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 5 innings and saw his ERA
jump from 2.91 to 3.43.

'I felt great out there today,' Jones said, 'Maybe I should make a regular
habit of getting to bed on time!'

he laced a base-knock. After an out was recorded, Geoff Jenkins came up and
he doubled. One out later, Carlos Ruiz stepped in and he banged out a
single. Ruiz took second on the throw. Jamie Moyer came to the plate and
stroked a one-base hit. Philadelphia finished with 11 hits while Washington
ended up with 6.

Moyer(4-3) allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Jason
Bergmann(0-5) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around by Philadelphia,
allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Shortstop Jimmy Rollins had 2 base hits at Minute Maid Park where the
Philadelphia Phillies beat the Houston Astros 6 to 5.

Philadelphia came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning with 2
runs using 2 hits. Shane Victorino got things going when he singled. Chase
Utley stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Ryan Howard then doubled.
Pat Burrell stepped in and he drew a walk. Philadelphia ended up with 9 hits
for the game while Houston had 6.

The win was credited to J.C. Romero(3-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing
no runs. Romero got relief help from Brad Lidge who gained credit for his 5th
save. Tim Byrdak(2-1) was given the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 2
hits in 1/3 of an inning.

Prince Fielder blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers topped
the Houston Astros by a score of 5 to 3 at Minute Maid Park.

In the top of the 4th inning Milwaukee scored 4 runs with the help of 3 hits.
The highlight belonged to Fielder who quieted the home crowd when he rifled a
three-run blast (his 6th of the season). Both teams ended up with 8 hits on
the afternoon.

Jeff Suppan(1-5) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Eric Gagne
gained credit for his 3rd save. Chris Sampson(2-3) was the loser.

One run was the difference at Shea Stadium as the San Francisco Giants
defeated the New York (NL) Mets 4 to 3.

Matt Cain(5-3) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win. He went
6 and 2/3 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 walk. Both teams finished the game
with 9 hits.

Tyler Walker earned the save, his 2nd. John Maine(3-2) was the losing
pitcher. He gave up 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work. 'I always am most
impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his best stuff,' Lee
Michaels said after the game. 'Cain did not have command of his pitches most
of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'

Shortstop Yunel Escobar blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Atlanta Braves
defeated the Arizona club by the score of 3 to 2 at Turner Field.

Atlanta scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits.
Ruben Gotay led off and he drew a walk. Gregor Blanco struck out, unable to
help the rally. Escobar then bombed a two-run dinger (his 2nd of the
season). Chipper Jones came up and he lined a single. Brian McCann was next
to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Casey Kotchman was the next
batter, but he struck out. Arizona had a chance in the 9th but they came up
short.

Buddy Carlyle(2-1) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Blaine Boyer earned his 2nd save. Max Scherzer(0-2) was charged with the
loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.

15,981 fans watched an exciting game at Great American Bpk. The St. Louis
Cardinals topped the Cincinnati Reds by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. St. Louis won it in the
11th inning. Chris Duncan laced a single. Aaron Miles came to the plate and
ripped a base-knock. After an out was recorded, Skip Schumaker stepped in
and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Ryan Ludwick stepped in
and he was hit by a pitch. Albert Pujols came to the plate and grounded into
a double play. Despite losing, Cincinnati out-hit St. Louis 14 to 11.

The victory went to Kyle McClellan(1-1) who went 3 innings, allowing 1 run.
McClellan got relief help from Jason Isringhausen who gained credit for his
2nd save. Mike Lincoln(1-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.
