Citi Field where the Atlanta Braves beat the New York (NL) Mets 5 to
0.

Vazquez(3-1) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed only 5
hits and 3 walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA from 4.57 to 3.88. After the
2nd inning, neither team was able to score.

Nelson Figueroa(0-1) was hit with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 1 inning
of work. 'He was really impressive today,' Figueroa said of his counterpart.
'Our guys were just swinging at air.'

At Turner Field, the Atlanta faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. John Maine(1-0) finally bested his Atlanta counterpart, Jair
Jurrjens(3-3), by the score of 3 to 1.

New York (NL) took the lead for good in the top of the 3rd inning scoring a
single run utilizing 2 base hits. Angel Pagan ripped a base-knock. Pagan
was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Maine then laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Luis Castillo stepped in and he would ground out. Alex Cora
stepped into the box and laced a base-knock. New York (NL) continued their
aggressive style with another stolen base. David Wright followed, but he was
set down on strikes. Atlanta could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th.

Pedro Feliciano recorded the save, his 2nd. Jurrjens absorbed the loss. He
surrendered 3 runs and 8 hits in 7 innings.

The Atlanta Braves nipped the New York (NL) Mets 3 to 2 at Turner Field in a
hard fought contest.

Atlanta claimed the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs on
1 hit. The critical plate appearance was by Chipper Jones who excited the
crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. New York (NL) had 9
hits in the game while Atlanta had 4, but Atlanta had the more timely hits.

Derek Lowe(3-2) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Lowe got
relief help from Kenshin Kawakami who gained credit for his 1st save. Tim
Redding(0-1) took the loss. He allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in 3 innings.

'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Lowe, 'I was just
giving us a chance to win.'

Joel Pineiro(3-4) gave a fine effort for St. Louis. He went 7 innings

Pineiro was helped out by Ryan Franklin who recorded his 14th save. Johan

The Atlanta Braves edged the Arizona ballclub in 12 innings at Chase Field by
the score of 3 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Finally, Atlanta pulled the
game out in the 12th inning. Chipper Jones hit a single. After an out was
recorded, Adam Laroche came to the plate and reached on an error. Garret
Anderson then reached on an error. After another out, Ryan Church stepped in
and he reached on an error. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel
until the 6th inning.

Field.

14th inning. After two outs Jay Bruce started the attack as he stroked a
one-base hit. Hernandez was next and he cracked a two-run shot. Cincinnati

allowing no runs. Francisco Cordero earned the save, his 5th. Eric
O'Flaherty(2-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2
