Adam Wainwright racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts at Nationals
Park as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the ice-cold Washington Nationals by the
count of 5 to 1.

Wainwright(2-1) had a strong outing. He gave up just 7 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings improving his ERA from 2.03 to 1.80. St. Louis had a total of 11
hits for the game.

Edwin Jackson(0-1) absorbed the loss. Wainwright was asked about his big
strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these
numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands,
everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be
able to take the crowd out of the game.'

George Kottaras had 3 base hits as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona team
in 12 innings by a score of 7 to 6.

The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Milwaukee won the game
in the 12th inning. Corey Hart laced a one-base hit. Rickie Weeks stepped
up next and he stroked a single. Mike Fiers then laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Jonathan Lucroy followed and he reached on an error giving Milwaukee the win
and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. This was a game of many highs
and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

The victory was credited to Jose Veras(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. J.J. Putz(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was pinned with
the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 2 and 1/3 innings of work.
