The Philadelphia Phillies offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 1st
inning and edged the Houston Astros at Citizen's Bank Park by the score of 6
to 5.

Chad Durbin(2-0) contributed a very nice performance in relief. He allowed
only 1 hit and no walks in 1 and 2/3 innings. Durbin got help from Brad
Lidge who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 3rd save.

The loss was charged to Roy Oswalt(0-2). He allowed 6 runs and 13 hits in 6
innings.

Miguel Tejada had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Citizen's Bank Park as the Houston
Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies by the count of 9 to 0.

Tejada had a big evening at the plate. He cracked a two-run shot (his 1st of
the season) in the 3rd inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 5th inning,
doubled in the 6th inning and doubled resulting in a run in the 8th inning.
Houston finished with 16 hits while Philadelphia ended up with 6.

The victory was credited to Randy Wolf(1-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Brett Myers(0-1). He allowed
Houston 5 runs in 4 innings of work.

'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Tejada said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'

Ryan Howard slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies
topped the Houston Astros by a score of 5 to 3 at Citizen's Bank Park.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Howard. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 4th inning
and cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 2nd of the season) in the
6th inning. Houston made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.

The victory went to Chad Durbin(1-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Durbin was helped out by Brad Lidge who recorded his 2nd save. Wesley
Wright(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

At Minute Maid Park, the Houston fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Chris
Sampson(1-0) finally bested his Philadelphia opposite, Joe Blanton(0-1), by
the score of 3 to 0.

Houston took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning plating an isolated run on 2
hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. The pitchers took over
after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.

Sampson got relief help from Tim Byrdak who gained credit for his 1st save.
Blanton was charged with the loss.

Designated hitter Gary Sheffield cleared the bases with his grand slam and
Nate Robertson tossed a complete game as the Detroit Tigers ballclub
embarrassed the Cleveland Indians by the count of 14 to 4.

Sheffield was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine
day at their team's expense. He launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a
Grand Slam homerun (his 1st of the season) in the 1st inning and stroked a
single scoring a run in the 4th inning. After the 4th inning, neither team
was able to score.

The win went to Robertson(1-0) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Fausto
Carmona(0-1) suffered the loss. He struggled with his control issuing 6
walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

to 2 at Yankee Stadium.

Chicago (AL) scored 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning when they had 5 base
hits. Paul Konerko got things going when he lashed a single. Nick Swisher
stepped up to the plate and he grounded into a double play. Alexei Ramirez
then slapped a one-base hit. Orlando Cabrera followed and he stroked a

(his 1st of the season). Jermaine Dye kept the rally going and doubled. Jim

Evan Longoria cleared three ducks from a very crowded pond with a grand slam
and Chad Bradford stopped Cleveland cold as the Tampa Bay ballclub topped the
Cleveland Indians by a score of 10 to 5 at Tropicana Field.

Longoria enjoyed a big day at the plate. He doubled which scored a run in the
3rd inning and launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam
homerun (his 1st of the season) in the 6th inning. Overall Tampa Bay out-hit
Cleveland 15 to 10.

Matt Garza(1-0) got the win allowing 4 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Bradford
