Swarzak got the win with a nice relief outing. He surrendered only 1 hit and no walks in 1 and 2/3 innings dropping his ERA from 4.35 to 4.13. Kansas City had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Swarzak got relief help from Glen Perkins who gained credit for his 10th save. Jeremy Guthrie(1-3) was charged with the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 walks.
