It was a real barn-burner day in Busch Stadium as St. Louis Cardinals finally
pulled ahead to stay, winning a very exciting game by a St. Louis Cardinals
to 10 score.

In the bottom of the 6th inning St. Louis scored 6 runs with the help of 5
hits. The critical plate appearance was by Matt Holliday who made the
home-town crowd a happy bunch when he belted a three-run homer. New York
(NL) threatened in the 9th but St. Louis was able to put down the rally.

Fernando Salas(1-0) allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Edward Mujica recorded his 3rd save. Dillon Gee(0-1) was charged
with the loss. He was knocked around by St. Louis, allowing 8 hits and 2
walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Chris Centorcelli was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If
only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's
not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
