Anthony Rendon had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Stephen Strasburg was on top of his
game, blanking Pittsburgh on just 2 hits as the Washington Nationals beat the
Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 5 to 0.

Strasburg(3-0) was on top of his game. He gave up just 2 hits and no walks in
9 innings. Strasburg mowed down 11 Pittsburgh batters dropping his ERA from
2.49 to 1.83. Washington managed 7 hits in their victory.

Jeff Locke(1-1) suffered the loss. His biggest problem was control as he
allowed 8 walks in 5 innings. When asked about his strikeout total for the
game, Strasburg offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see
them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I
kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for naught without
the 'W'.'

39,679 fans watched an exciting game at Dodger Stadium. The Los Angeles(NL)
Dodgers registered 6 runs in the 1st inning and topped the Colorado Rockies
by the slimmest of margins, 9 to 8.

Los Angeles(NL) drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first
inning as they scored 6 runs on 5 base hits. The big moment was provided by
Hanley Ramirez who thrilled the crowd when he doubled bringing home two
baserunners. Colorado had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.

Stephen Fife(1-0) allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Kenley Jansen recorded his 4th save. Juan Nicasio(1-3) was given the loss.

Walt Weiss was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
