The St. Louis Cardinals easily topped the Chicago (NL) Cubs; the final score
was 6 to 1.

Chicago (NL) fell behind quickly as the St. Louis offense came through in the
first inning with 3 runs utilizing 4 base hits. David Eckstein led off the
inning for St. Louis when he tripled. Larry Walker stepped up to the plate
and he doubled scoring a run. Albert Pujols then doubled driving in one more
runner. After another out, Reggie Sanders stepped in and he hit a deep fly
scoring the final run of the inning. That scoring would be all that was
needed. Overall St. Louis out-hit Chicago (NL) 12 to 6.
