Second baseman Mark Ellis touched them all at US Cellular Field where the
Oakland A's beat the Chicago (AL) Whitesox by the score of 3 to 2.

Oakland had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. Ellis got things going when he lined a one-base hit.
Jason Kendall was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Mark
Kotsay then smacked a single. Bobby Crosby was up next and he drew a walk to
load the bases. Eric Chavez stepped into the box and lashed a single
bringing in a run. Bobby Kielty kept the rally going and hit a deep fly
scoring the final run of the inning. Chicago (AL) had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.

Kiko Calero(1-0) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Huston
Street gained credit for his 1st save. Bobby Jenks(0-1) ended up with the
loss in relief.

'This was a tough loss,' said Lee Michaels, 'the kind that sticks with you for
awhile.'
