Right fielder Shin-Soo Choo had 2 base hits at Progressive Field where the
Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 3 to 2.

Cleveland had the winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning plating 2 runs
using 3 hits. Ezequiel Carrera kicked off the action when he ripped a
base-hit. Carrera got a great jump and stole second easily. Russ Canzler
then slapped a single. Canzler took second on the throw. Lou Marson was up
next and he drew a walk. Choo stepped into the box and laced a one-base hit.
Detroit made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.

Joe Smith(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Smith got
help from Chris Perez who was credited with his 1st save. Drew Smyly(1-1)
was given the loss in relief.
