Jason Isringhausen quieted any hopes that Chicago (NL) may have had of a
comeback and Albert Pujols had 3 base hits as the St. Louis Cardinals
defeated the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the score of 7 to 4 at Busch Stadium.

St. Louis took the lead off Mark Prior in the first inning when they scored 4
runs on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Reggie Sanders who excited
the crowd when he hit a 'grand salami' to the delight of his teammates (his
4th of the season). Despite losing, Chicago (NL) out-hit St. Louis 15 to 11.

The win was credited to Mark Mulder(3-1) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 4
runs. Isringhausen recorded the save, his 6th. Prior(0-3) was tagged with
the loss. He was unable to control the St. Louis offense and allowed 10 hits
and 3 walks in 5 innings.

The St. Louis ballclub's record now stands at 11-5. Chicago (NL) has a record
of 6-7, worst in the division after the loss.
