WEB GEMS- Top 6th: Manny Corpas robbed Aaron Miles of a base hit.

Colby Rasmus had 4 hits at Coors Field as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the
Colorado Rockies 6 to 5.

Colorado fell behind quickly as the St. Louis offense came through in the
first inning as they scored 2 runs on 1 base hits. The crucial at-bat was
provided by Matt Holliday who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd
when he ripped a base-knock scoring two baserunners. Colorado threatened in
the 9th but their rally came up short.

Chris Carpenter(1-0) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Ryan
Franklin got the save, his 1st. Aaron Cook(0-1) suffered the loss. He gave
up 3 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.

'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said George Nasser 'but it's losing the close
ones that really hurt.'
