Miami erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning when they scored 4

deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he rifled a three-run blast.
New York (NL) threatened in the 9th but Miami was able to put down the
rally.

In a good matchup it was the St. Louis Cardinals 6, the Pittsburgh Pirates 4
at PNC Park.
Mitchell Boggs(2-1) came on to close the door tight in relief. No one was able

Adam Wainwright was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at PNC Park where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh
Pirates by the score of 8 to 2.
Carlos Beltran was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled knocking in a run
in the 1st inning, doubled resulting in a run in the 6th inning and cleared
the fences for a two-run home run in the 9th inning. St. Louis had a total
of 11 hits for the game.
The victory went to Wainwright(1-1) who went the distance allowing 2 runs.
Kevin Correia(2-2) ended up with the loss. St. Louis knocked him around a
bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the St. Louis Cardinals 3 to 2 at Busch Stadium
in a hard fought contest.
James McDonald(2-1) pitched well for Pittsburgh in their victory. He went 7
and 2/3 innings surrendering 8 hits and 3 walks lowering his ERA to 3.81.
St. Louis tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
McDonald got help from Jared Hughes who was credited with his 2nd save. Lance
Lynn(1-2) was the loser. 'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them'
Mike Matheny said. 'We did what we could, we just didn't pull out the win.

In a two run game the Pittsburgh Pirates got by the St. Louis Cardinals in 10
innings by the score of 3 to 1.
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Pittsburgh was
victorious in the 10th inning. Jose Tabata started the inning off right when
he was hit by a pitch. Andrew McCutchen next to the plate and he smashed a
two-run homer. Pittsburgh managed 9 hits in their victory.
Jason Grilli(2-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Joel Hanrahan
preserved the game for Grilli, recording his his 4th save. Mitchell
Boggs(1-1) was given the loss in relief.
