Shortstop Elliot Johnson had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at SAFECO Field as the Tampa Bay Rays pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Seattle Mariners by the count of 5 to 1. Tampa Bay won the game with a rally in the 9th inning when they tallied 5 runs on 6 hits. The key at-bat was by Johnson who silenced SAFECO Field as he ripped a single bringing home two baserunners. Overall Tampa Bay out-hit Seattle 11 to 8. The win was credited to James Shields(3-5) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run. Tom Wilhelmsen(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. Chris Couch was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us this afternoon'
