First baseman Paul Goldschmidt had 3 base hits as the Arizona club beat the
San Francisco Giants by a score of 11 to 6.
Arizona came up with 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning with the help of 6
hits. The critical plate appearance was by Eric Chavez who made the crowd
come alive when he doubled bringing home two baserunners. Arizona out-hit
San Francisco for the game, 17 hits to 14.
The win was credited to Tony Sipp(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Yusmeiro Petit(0-1) was the loser in relief. He was not very effective,
