At Wrigley Field, the Chicago (NL) fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Jason Marquis(2-1) finally bested his St. Louis opposite, Joel Pineiro(1-2),
by the score of 2 to 1.

Chicago (NL) scored 2 runs in the 7th inning when they had 4 base hits.
Geovany Soto led off and he laced a one-base hit. Micah Hoffpauir was next
and he doubled. Ryan Theriot then lined a single. After an out was
recorded, Alfonso Soriano came to the plate and laced a base-knock. Soriano
took second on the throw. Derrek Lee followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Aramis Ramirez kept things alive and was walked intentionally to
load the bases. Kosuke Fukudome got his turn next, but he was a strikeout
victim. St. Louis could do no damage in the 9th.

Marquis was helped out by Kerry Wood who recorded his 4th save. Pineiro was
hit with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and no walks in 6 innings.
