The Chicago (NL) Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Busch Stadium. The final score was the Chicago (NL) Cubs 5,
the St. Louis Cardinals 4.

Chicago (NL) brought 2 runs across the plate in the 5th inning. The biggest
moment was provided by Aramis Ramirez who helped quiet the crowd when he
cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Chicago (NL) banged out 8 hits on
the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Ryan Dempster(3-1) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Dempster got help from Carlos Marmol who was credited with his 2nd
save. Adam Wainwright(2-2) suffered the loss. While he was the losing
pitcher, he still struck out 11 batters in 8 innings.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' John Thomas said after the game. 'Dempster did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
