At Chase Field, the Arizona faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Micah Owings(3-1) finally bested his Los Angeles(NL) counterpart,
Clayton Kershaw(0-1), by the score of 1 to 0.

The game's lone run was scored in the 3rd inning. That scoring would be all
that was needed. Los Angeles(NL) threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.

Doug Slaten recorded the save, his 1st. Kershaw took the loss. He pitched 6
and 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks.
