Matt Garza struck out 10 batters and Carlos Pena slammed 2 homeruns at
Ameriquest Field as the Tampa Bay ballclub belted the Texas Rangers by the
count of 12 to 0.

Garza(3-0) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Texas hitters.
He allowed just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 3.14
to 1.93. Tampa Bay banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.

Kason Gabbard(1-1) was charged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9
hits and 4 walks in 5 innings. Garza, when asked about his 10 strikeout
performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we
lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it
feels great!'
