In a game for the baseball purist, Mike Pelfrey(1-0) and Mike Hampton(0-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, New York (NL) Mets finally emerged
victorious over Houston Astros, 2 to 0.

New York (NL) scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The early run
support proved sufficient for Pelfrey and New York (NL). That was all the
run support Pelfrey required. Neither team managed to score after the 2nd
inning.

Francisco Rodriguez recorded the save, his 2nd.
