At PNC Park, the Pittsburgh faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Alex White(3-0) finally bested his Pittsburgh counterpart, Jeff
Karstens(1-1), by the score of 2 to 1.

Colorado brought 2 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning with the help of 3
hits. That was all the offense they were to need. Pittsburgh was retired
without difficulty in the bottom of the 9th.

White got relief help from Rafael Betancourt who gained credit for his 2nd
save. Karstens was hit with the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up only 5
hits and no walks.
