Garrett Jones smashed 2 homeruns and scored 3 times as the Pittsburgh Pirates
defeated the Washington Nationals 6 to 2 at Nationals Park.
Jones was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He blasted a solo shot in the 2nd inning, doubled in
the 4th inning, slapped a one-base hit in the 5th inning and delivered a solo
blast in the 7th inning. Washington was out-hit by Pittsburgh, 12 hits to 5.
James McDonald(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 and 1/3
innings. Jordan Zimmermann(1-1) took the loss. Pittsburgh knocked him around
a bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
