One run was the difference at AT&T Park as the San Francisco Giants defeated
the Pittsburgh Pirates 5 to 4.
In the bottom of the 6th inning San Francisco scored 2 runs when they had 3
base hits. After an out was recorded, Pablo Sandoval keyed the rally when he
stroked a base-hit. Hunter Pence next to the plate and he laced a
base-knock. Pence got a good lead and stole second. Brandon Belt came up
and he delivered a single. Brandon Crawford stepped into the box and
grounded into a double play. San Francisco had a total of 10 hits for the
game.
The win went to George Kontos(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Santiago
Casilla preserved the game for Kontos, recording his his 2nd save. A.J.
Burnett(0-2) suffered the loss. He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk in 5 and
1/3 innings.
