Hisashi Iwakuma struck out 10 batters and Kyle Seager left the yard at SAFECO
Field as the Seattle Mariners beat the New York (AL) Yankees 3 to
1.
 
Iwakuma(1-1) was simply too much for the New York (AL) batters.  He allowed
only 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 2.25 to 1.59.
Both teams finished the game with 4 hits.  
 
Hiroki Kuroda(2-1) suffered the loss.  When questioned about his counterpart
after the game, Kuroda was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early
on that we were going to be in for a long night.  Iwakuma brought his 'A'
game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.  He
probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
