Jeff Suppan shutout Chicago (NL) while allowing the St. Louis bullpen a
day-off at Wrigley Field where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago (NL)
Cubs by the score of 6 to 0.

Suppan(3-2) was simply too much for the Chicago (NL) batters. He allowed only
5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.74 to 2.29. St.
Louis banged out 10 on the afternoon.

Jerome Williams(0-2) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
