Jim Thome blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Target Field where the Minnesota
Twins beat the Detroit Tigers by the score of 5 to 4.

Thome enjoyed a big day at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in the
2nd inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 4th inning. Detroit had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory was credited to Francisco Liriano(3-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Brian Fuentes was credited with his 3rd save. Armando
Galarraga(1-2) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

Chris Couch was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
