First baseman Daric Barton had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Brett Anderson had a
strong outing as the Oakland A's defeated the Seattle Mariners by a score of
9 to 0 at McAfee Coliseum.

Seattle found themselves trailing quickly as the Oakland bats came through in
the first inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. That was all the
offense they were to need. Oakland kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

Anderson(1-1) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Doug
Fister(0-3) was given the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 4
walks in 6 innings.

Anderson was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of
the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm
felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only
hope that I can do it again next time out!'
