The Texas Rangers had an easy time of it at Rangers Ballpark defeating the
Minnesota Twins by a score of 11 to 6.
Minnesota found themselves trailing quickly as the Texas bats came through in
the first inning when they came up with 4 runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat
was provided by Nelson Cruz who made the crowd happy when he ripped a
base-hit which was good for two runs. Minnesota was not lacking for run
support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they
seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
The winning pitcher was Cliff Lee(1-0) who allowed 6 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Lee was helped out by Neftali Feliz who recorded his 1st save. The
loss was charged to Francisco Liriano(0-2). He was knocked around,
surrendering 7 runs in 3 innings.
