separated the combatants at game's end. The New York (AL) Yankees won by the
slimmest of margins, 8 to 7.

The score was knotted at 7 after nine innings. New York (AL) came out on top
in the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Marcus Thames clubbed a solo
home run. Curtis Granderson got his chance to keep things going, but he went
down on strikes. The Boston bats were silent in the bottom of the 13th.

David Robertson(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 and 1/3
innings. Mariano Rivera recorded his 13th save. Felix Doubront(0-1) was hit
with the loss in relief.
