Shortstop Jose Reyes had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Miami Marlins outscored
the slumping Washington Nationals in 11 innings 4 to 3.
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Miami won it in the
11th inning. John Buck led off and got things going when he doubled. Steve
Cishek was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Reyes then delivered a
one-base hit. Reyes was safe on a stolen base. Emilio Bonifacio stepped
into the box and laid down a sacrifice bunt. Donovan Solano extended the
rally and stroked a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Giancarlo
Stanton came to the plate and was walked intentionally. Logan Morrison was
next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Miami had 11 hits for the
afternoon while Washington had 7.
The win went to Cishek(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 2 and 2/3 innings. Heath Bell
preserved the game for Cishek, recording his his 2nd save. Tyler
Clippard(0-1) suffered the loss in relief.
